Hue Design

I recently changed my Domain Name after using huedesignonline.com for 15 or so years.   Everything, email, web, blog, should or will eventually redirect to huedesign.biz.

A quick summary, I work full-time for Direct Wholesale Signs, LLC in Kings Mountain, NC.  I do Freelance design work as Hue Design.  If you need sign drawings for sales, permitting or production art I would be happy to assist.

For now, here's the "NEW CUSTOMER EMAIL" I send out to clients when we begin a new working relationship.   Some of my history, sample design requests, alot of outdated drawings I will update one of these years, rates and workflow information.

I have been working in the Sign Industry since 1986. I Freelance for a dozen or so companies in the Charlotte area and around the country.  I can usually turn a Design Request around in under (24) Hours. I supported six or seven sales guys when I was at Comco Signs in Charlotte (23 Years) and I like to think my drawings are a real selling tool.  They help with permitting too.  My goal is to draw signs exactly the way they will look when built.  I can provide art & drawings in nearly any format.  Generally I provide PDF Files, in a vector format, ready to be scaled up and sent directly into production.  It also makes moving the project into production at Direct Wholesale Signs very easy as well since I usually default to their standards & fabrication techniques unless otherwise specified.

I don't share job information between my customers or with DWS.  Most of the Charlotte Area customers I draw for have their own little niches and there isn't alot of conflict, but a few times a year I get the same request from multiple customers.   I keep the Freelance side of things separate from my day time job.  If you want a quote from DWS, let me know and I will forward it over Estimates.

To make scaling the Survey photos as accurate as possible, I usually ask for (2) measurements in each the Horizontal and Vertical of elements in the pictures that will be in the same plane as the sign.

Mark where the sign is going or sign band areas.
Vector Art Logos
Type of Sign, Color Specs etc.

Revisions, my customers usually mark up the drawing and send it back.  I draw for companies in New York, St. Louis, and Alabama it it goes pretty smoothly communicating through email or I just call if I have questions.

My rate is $65/hr and I bill in 15 minute Increments. I can usually do a set of Channel Letters on Photos, Front and Rear Elevation and a Tenant panel for a monument in an hour if I have good art and survey.

The most time intense thing is searching/matching fonts, designing logos from scratch or scanning and cleaning art.

Also, I have alot of experience with ADA and Interior packages and plan pull-offs as well.

I invoice once a month or so.
